Aronberg Goldgehn's DEI Committee Shares Ways to Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

01.13.25

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, observed on the third Monday of January each year, is a federal holiday in the United States dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a pivotal leader in the civil rights movement. The day serves as a reflection not only on King's powerful contributions to the fight for racial equality and social justice, but also as a call to action for individuals to engage in community service, promoting the ideals of peace and equality that Dr. King championed.

Here are some of Dr. King’s impactful speeches:
1. "I Have a Dream"
2. "I've Been to the Mountaintop"
3. "Letters from Birmingham Jail"

To honor MLK Day, consider participating in the following activities:
Volunteer: Join local community service projects or non-profit organizations. Giving your time to help those in need embodies Dr. King's spirit of service.
Organize Drives: Contact local food banks or shelters to organize food, clothing or supply drives.
Reflect and Share: Invite community members or elders to share their experiences related to civil rights and the impact of Dr. King's work.
Education: Encourage discussions about Dr. King's teachings. This can include reading his speeches or watching documentaries that highlight his life and mission.
