Deadlines Approaching for Employer Actions

06.20.23

Chicago Employer Sexual Harassment Training Deadline is June 30

The deadline for compliance with Chicago’s amended Human Rights Ordinance is fast approaching. By June 30, 2023, all Chicago employers, regardless of size, must provide:

  • One hour of sexual harassment prevention for all employees (2 hours for supervisors/managers); and

  • One hour of bystander training for all employees

Training templates are provided by the City of Chicago to aid employers in ensuring compliance. This training is required to be completed annually between July 1 and June 30. Penalties can be assessed for each day that an employer is not in compliance. The City of Chicago’s website has FAQs and other sexual harassment resources for employers.

State of Illinois Annual Reporting Deadline is July 1

Under the Illinois Human Rights Act, Illinois employers are required to file annual reports by July 1 each year if the employer has had an adverse judgment or administrative ruling against it in the preceding calendar year. Employers are required to report certain information on Form IDHR 2-108. More information about this requirement can be found on the Illinois Department of Human Rights website.
