Aronberg Goldgehn Secures Additional Victory for Grunt Style in Long-Running Trademark Dispute

Aronberg Goldgehn attorneys Chip De Preter and Sofia Quezada Hastings have secured an additional victory for client Grunt Style LLC in a long-running trademark infringement case against TWD, LLC. The firm successfully obtained $230,000 in pre- and post-judgment interest — adding to the $739,500 jury verdict awarded in March 2024 — and bringing the total judgment to nearly $1 million. De Preter and Quezada Hastings also secured permanent injunctive relief through a series of post-trial motions.

The recent rulings represent a significant step forward in the nearly six-year litigation over TWD’s infringement of Grunt Style’s trademarked slogan, THIS WE’LL DEFEND — a phrase the company has used in connection with its apparel and retail business since 2011.

In addition to the interest, the court ordered TWD to pay post-judgment interest at a rate of $115 per day until the full judgment is satisfied. The court also issued a permanent injunction prohibiting TWD from using the slogan on t-shirts or in connection with its online retail operations.
