About Illinois Leading Lawyers and Emerging Lawyers

Leading Lawyers is a division of Law Bulletin Publishing Company, a diversified print and electronic information company that has been serving the Chicago legal and business communities since 1854. Flagship of the privately held corporation is the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, the oldest daily courts newspaper in the country.

Emerging Lawyer selection arises from Law Bulletin Publishing Company's annual surveys that are mailed to all Leading Lawyers in Illinois. The survey asks Leading Lawyers to confidentially share the names of lawyers whom they believe have jumped quickly from the starting gate and have proven themselves professional, ethical, and experienced at an early point in their legal career. Unlike Leading Lawyers surveys, each Leading Lawyer is permitted to recommend one lawyer from his or her own law firm for every two lawyers recommended from outside of their firm. Emerging Lawyers must be 40 or younger unless they have practiced for no more than 10 years.
