Congratulations to Alex Benigni as she Becomes a Certified Guardian ad Litem in DuPage County

05.15.24

Aronberg Goldgehn attorney Alex Benigni has completed Guardian ad Litem training and become certified in DuPage County.

A Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is often appointed in guardianship cases and is an objective, third party attorney with specialized training to represent the best interests of the alleged disabled person. The GAL acts as the eyes and ears of the Judge, and in doing so, may investigate all aspects of the individual’s life. The GAL makes recommendations to the Judge to aid the Court in making decisions that are in the person’s best interest.

The training covers substantive subjects such as legal proceedings and contested matters, as well as procedural matters like conducting interviews and writing reports. The training is led by various attorneys who specialize in this area of the law. Once training is successfully completed, the attorney is certified and able to be appointed by the Court as needed.

Alex is an associate in the firm’s Business Litigation, Trust and Estate Litigation, and Insurance Coverage practice groups. Her experience includes advising and representing clients through all phases of litigation, including preparing and successfully arguing motions before state and federal courts, deposing and presenting witnesses for discovery depositions and managing all aspects of the discovery process.
