Ben Haskin and Emma Sander Secure Bench Trial Victory in Commercial Lease Dispute

Aronberg Goldgehn congratulates Member Ben Haskin and Associate Emma Sander on winning a hard-fought bench trial for the firm’s client in a commercial landlord-tenant dispute.

The tenants asserted claims against the firm’s client, the property owner, seeking more than $1 million in damages. The firm brought a counterclaim alleging that the tenants had breached their lease.

Following a three-day bench trial in the Circuit Court of Cook County, the court ruled in favor of Aronberg Goldgehn’s client. It rejected the tenants’ claims and found that they had materially breached the lease. In addition to the successful defense, Ben and Emma succeeded in obtaining lost rent and property-related damages on behalf of their client. The court also awarded the firm’s client attorneys’ fees and costs.

The result reflects both Ben’s and Emma’s extraordinary preparation, command of the evidence, and effective presentation of a factually complex case. They worked tirelessly to protect the client’s interests and earned a decisive, well-deserved victory.

“We are honored to give all our clients the necessary time and dedication their cases deserve,” said Haskin. “We prepared this case with remarkable thoroughness and presented the evidence to the court with clarity. This was a demanding case against claims exceeding $1 million, and we are proud of the outstanding result for our client.”
