Results Driven. For over a century, our Aronberg Goldgehn litigators have strived to consistently achieve excellent results for their clients, whether they are Fortune 500 companies or entrepreneurs. The definition of “Success” varies from client to client and case to case. Sometimes it means obtaining a favorable jury verdict or arbitration award. Other times, success means prevailing on a dispositive motion and protecting the victory on appeal. It can also mean negotiating a settlement after, or even before, litigation begins. Whatever the situation, our litigators have the knowledge, skill and experience to obtain the results our clients desire.

Business Disputes. We are trial lawyers and full-service litigators. Aronberg Goldgehn lawyers represent clients in many industries in all types of business disputes at the mediation, arbitration, trial and appellate levels, including disputes involving the following areas of law:

Banking Employment

Class Actions Privacy Breaches
Construction Probate & Trust Litigation
Copyright Infringement Professional Liability

Budgeting and Analysis.
We offer our clients up-front analyses of the factual and legal issues, so that success can be defined, budgeted for and obtained. We staff our cases efficiently so that a partner has day-to-day involvement without the use of multiple levels of associates in every case. We implement the most cutting-edge technology to handle litigation efficiently and effectively.

Practice Made Personal® means we are there for our clients when the going gets tough and we treat their matters as our own. Commercial litigation can be stressful and distracting for business owners. Our business lawyers understand that. But when there is no alternative to litigation, we won’t abandon you. We work collaboratively with our Business Law and Transactions Group to ensure that the needs of an ongoing business remain paramount both during the course of litigation and when structuring any settlement. Business lawyers in our group also have extensive experience in ownership disputes (often referred to as “corporate divorce”). We work closely with our Business Law and Transactions Group in planning, executing and litigating such matters.

Local Service, Global Resources. Through our membership and leadership in Legal Netlink Alliance (an alliance of midsized, general practice, independent law firms), our reach is literally global. So whether you need to diligence a merger partner in Phoenix, Arizona, litigate in the Delaware Chancery Court, or consult with a tax expert in Belgium, we can provide assistance both quickly and economically.

Obtained a defense victory

Obtained a defense victory in the Northern District of Illinois by obtaining a dismissal with prejudice of the plaintiff’s claim of defamation per se.

"Successfully defended a suit brought by..."

Successfully defended a suit brought by a minority shareholder for corporate dissolution and other relief. The plaintiff had alleged that the majority shareholder had engaged in acts of unfairness, oppression, corporate waste and unauthorized acts and sought dissolution of the company or a forced buyout of plaintiff’s interest.

"Obtained summary judgment in an..."

Obtained summary judgment in an international arbitration proceeding in favor of a U.S. life settlement provider in its claims for breach of contract and bad faith against a German closed-end investment fund.

"Obtained an order dismissing for..."

Obtained an order dismissing for lack of personal jurisdiction a lawsuit alleging claims for tortious interference that had been brought against our client, a Nevada corporation. This decision effectively brought to an end over two years of litigation in both federal and state court.

"Obtained capitulation of employees who..."

Obtained capitulation of employees who left employer with trade secrets to improperly compete with it.

"Obtained summary judgment and appellate..."

Obtained summary judgment and appellate victory for bank who had competing claims with a borrower’s trade creditor notwithstanding that trade creditor claimed certain payments from customers were earmarked for trade creditor.

"Obtained a significant declaratory judgment in..."

Obtained a significant declaratory judgment in favor of the firm's client, a professional liability insurer. The insurer's policyholder, a title agent, claimed that the insurer should defend it and provide coverage for two class action lawsuits in which the title agent's customers sought return of unpaid recording and courier delivery fees. The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois ruled in the insurer's favor, agreeing that our client was not required to defend the lawsuits or provide coverage for any damages.

"Obtained a judgment in favor of..."

Obtained a judgment in favor of the firm’s client, the administrator of an ERISA-based health benefits plan, for a constructive trust. The ERISA-based plan required plan members to reimburse the plan when they received funds from third parties. The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois agreed that the plan administrator was entitled to a constructive trust over such amounts and granted judgment in favor of the plan administrator. The ruling is a significant, precedent-setting victory for ERISA plan administrators, who frequently face challenges when seeking such relief in the federal courts.

"Obtained a favorable decision before the..."

Obtained a favorable decision before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The Court reversed the lower court's decision which had compelled our client to arbitrate the Defendant’s multi-million dollar successor-liability claims. The Court of Appeals held that our client had not assumed responsibility for the Defendant’s claims and thus was not bound to arbitrate them. The ruling effectively brought to an end several years of highly contentious litigation.

"Successfully resisted a competing claim for..."

Successfully resisted a competing claim for pension plan benefits through litigation in the United States District Court and Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in Missouri.

"Obtained a $1 million judgment for an..."

Obtained a $1 million judgment for an Illinois company against a credit union which, over a period of 15 months, was alleged to have converted more than three hundred checks made payable to our client.

"Obtained a judgment, after a bench trial..."

Obtained a judgment, after a bench trial, in favor of a business owner and against a contractor that performed renovation work, and successfully defended the result on appeal.
