Paul Gilman, Elizabeth Lazzara and Sharon Zaban Named to "Crain's 2019 Notable Gen X Leaders in Law" List

06.04.19

Aronberg Goldgehn members Paul Gilman, Elizabeth Lazzara and Sharon Zaban have been named on “Crain’s 2019 Notable Gen X Leaders in Law” list, published in the June 3 edition of Crain’s Chicago Business. They are among 121 lawyers featured on the list.

To qualify for the list, an honoree must be an attorney between the ages of 40 and 55 serving in a senior leadership role at his or her law firm. The list is not comprehensive. It includes only individuals for whom nominations were submitted and accepted after a review by editors.

Crain’s colorful introduction to the list reads as follows:

"Members of Generation X have earned a harsh reputation as disaffected, cynical slackers. But malaise doesn’t apply to this cohort of Chicago attorneys born between 1964 and 1979. These 121 lawyers include some of the top practitioners in town handling intellectual property, corporate restructuring and class-action defense cases. The relaxation of laws regulating cannabis and the rise of the #MeToo movement have opened up new business for other specialists.

"Many on the list practice at the top national firms, while others thrive at smaller firms. Some lawyers with big-firm experience broke off to establish specialty boutiques.

"Diversity and inclusion are on the radar of many lawyers, and a number make a point of mentoring young associates. In a profession known for brutal hours, a group of women managed to rise to leadership positions while raising families. The profiles on these pages underscore that there are many ways to forge a successful career in law."

In addition to being published in the June 3 edition of Crain’s Chicago Business, the list is also available online at ChicagoBusiness.com.
