Timothy R. Nelson, Co-Chair of the Business Law & Transactions Group at Aronberg Goldgehn Davis & Garmisa, has been elected as Town Council President for the Town of Ogden Dunes, Indiana, where he lives with his family.

Ogden Dunes is a town in Porter County, Indiana. It is located on the shore of Lake Michigan, within the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and nearly surrounded by National Park Land and the city of Portage. The Town Council serves as the legislative and executive body of the town.

Tim was elected in November 2015 as Town Council Member for Ward 5. Subsequently, the remaining four Council members voted for Tim to serve as Council President, effective January 1, 2016. In this role, he has the power to sign contracts, ordinances, etc., that have been approved by the Council. He also presides over Council meetings and represents the Council at government and community functions.

“I am honored to serve my Town of Ogden Dunes,” said Tim. “It possesses a unique natural environment and ecosystem and offers so many activities and opportunities for children and families. The collaborative volunteer spirit of my fellow residents motivated me to want to serve on the Town Council and to work to ensure the preservation of our environment, parks and infrastructure. Hopefully, I can also help inspire the next generation of volunteers and leaders.”

Tim was previously a member of the Ogden Dunes Parks and Recreation Board for the 2014-2015 term.

At Aronberg Goldgehn, Tim represents businesses, lenders and real estate clients in a broad range of matters and transactions. He often serves as outside general counsel for middle market and privately held businesses in a variety of industries, providing counsel on a broad range of legal, business and strategic matters.

As a general business attorney with broad transactional experience, Tim frequently represents clients in connection with mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; business formation and governance matters; corporate structure and business planning matters; private debt and equity offerings; shareholder disputes; commercial finance transactions; as well as real estate, leasing and licensing transactions.

Tim regularly negotiates and drafts business governance documentation; purchase and sale documentation for transactions large and small; confidentiality agreements, employment policies and agreements, strategic and consulting agreements; licensing documentation, loan documentation, real estate and leasing agreements; customer contracts, and a variety of other documents used in and out of the ordinary course of business.

Tim also assists clients with a range of technology and intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright matters, Internet and software matters, as well as related concerns such as trade secret protections.

“Tim’s dedication to community service is demonstrative of the core principles that we at Aronberg Goldgehn value so much as a firm,” said Jerry Holisky, Co-Managing Member of the firm. “We are proud of Tim’s accomplishments as a lawyer and are certain he will be equally as effective in his new role as Town Council President.”
