Aronberg Goldgehn Member Dan Cotter Appointed to Illinois Judicial Conference Civics Education Task Force
02.26.26
Aronberg Goldgehn is proud to announce that Member Dan Cotter has been appointed to the Civics Education Task Force of the Illinois Judicial Conference (IJC), where he will contribute to a key statewide initiative focused on strengthening public understanding of the judicial system.
The Civics Education Task Force was created as part of the Illinois judicial branch’s 2026–2028 strategic agenda and is responsible for engaging the public through civics education. The strategic initiative reflects a broader effort to increase transparency, public trust and meaningful engagement with the courts.
The task force will play a foundational role in developing a framework for a new standing Supreme Court of Illinois Commission on Civics Education, which was approved in concept in late 2025. This includes defining the commission’s focus and identifying relevant state and national resources to support its long-term success.
Cotter’s appointment follows a competitive vetting process conducted by the IJC and senior staff from the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC) to identify individuals with the experience and perspective needed for these multidisciplinary initiatives. His selection reflects both his professional accomplishments and his longstanding commitment to civic engagement, leadership and service within the legal community.
