Aronberg Goldgehn Sponsoring the 18th Annual Illinois Bar Foundation Gala
Aronberg Goldgehn is honored to be the Northern Illinois University Fellowship Sponsor for the 18th Annual Illinois Bar Foundation Gala on October 14, 2016.
The Illinois Bar Foundation (IBF), the charitable arm of the Illinois State Bar Association, raises funds for distribution to Illinois nonprofit organizations that provide free legal services to those with limited means. It also provides assistance to lawyers who can no longer support themselves due to incapacity. This year, the Foundation will distribute more than $750,000 in funds statewide.
The Illinois Bar Foundation’s 2016 Gala will feature live and silent auctions, dinner, cocktails and dancing in honor of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, who will be presented with the 2016 Distinguished Award for Excellence.
Aronberg Goldgehn’s Northern Illinois University Fellowship sponsorship supports the IBF’s year-long, post-graduate legal fellowship program in partnership with law schools operating civil legal aid clinics in Illinois.
The purpose of the Fellowship is to:
Increase access to civil legal aid for low income residents of the state of Illinois by providing efficient and effective legal services by qualified lawyers
Help new attorneys develop practical legal skills and hone interpersonal, professional and business skills in order to enhance their prospects of employment at the conclusion of the Fellowship
To instill in young attorneys a spirit of public interest law so that they can continue their service of low income clients throughout their career
The Fellowships are awarded annually by selected law schools to qualifying graduates who will work in their alma mater’s civil legal aid clinic. The IBF and the law schools share the cost of each Fellowship.
Northern Illinois University College of Law is one of three law schools that the IBF is working with in 2016. This year’s Northern Illinois University Fellow is Patricia Zimmerman. She graduated from Northern Illinois University's College of Law in May 2016 and works at the Zeke Giorgi Law Clinic.
In August 2016 Aronberg Goldgehn member and Lawrence A. Stein was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Illinois Bar Foundation. A Northern Illinois University College of Law alumni himself, Larry concentrates his practice in commercial and appellate litigation and contested estates. He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a highly selective and prestigious honor society of trial lawyers; has served on the Board of Directors for the Appellate Lawyers Association; is the Chair of the Civil Law Section Council for the DuPage County Bar Association and previous Chair of the Appellate Law Section Council. Larry recently completed his term as the president of the DuPage Bar Foundation.
