Samuel R. Leist has joined Aronberg Goldgehn as an associate in the firm’s Insurance Coverage Practice Group.

Sam focuses his practice on representing insurers in complex insurance coverage litigation arising under general liability, directors and officers, and professional liability policies. He also handles matters involving claims of bad faith, and provides strategic counseling to clients regarding potential liability and strategies for handling underlying liability matters.

Sam earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2018, and B.A. in Political Science, cum laude, from DePauw University in 2014.

Prior to receiving his law degree, Sam was honored with the Fulbright Scholarship and completed a Fulbright Grant at Pamukkale University in Denizli, Turkey. As a law student, he worked as a legal intern and extern with several entities, including the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Trade Representative, Executive Office of the President in Washington, D.C. In that role, he performed research in support of trade negotiations with foreign nations and for cases brought before the World Trade Organization.

While earning his law degree, Sam served as an editor of the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy. He successfully litigated a number of cases through Notre Dame’s clinical law and externship programs, including a full EOIR trial where he obtained a judgment granting asylum for a refugee family victimized by gang violence. He also was employed as the Head Coach of the University of Notre Dame Debate Team.

Sam is currently an Ambassador with Polar Bears International, a leading scientific research organization. He also provides mentorship to pre-law students at DePauw University.
