Maryam H. Arfeen Appointed to ISBA Labor & Employment Section Council and Racial & Ethnic Minority Committee for 2022-2023

Aronberg Goldgehn is proud to announce Maryam H. Arfeen’s new positions on the ISBA’s Labor & Employment Law Section Council as Member and Standing Committee on Racial & Ethnic and the Law as Secretary for 2022-2023.
The ISBA Labor & Employment Law Section Council cultivates a community that advances the industry through the discussion of important labor law developments, reviewing and commenting on proposed legislation and regulations, creating more candor environments with clients and striving to make legislation more equitably administered.
The ISBA Racial & Ethnic Minorities and the Law Standing Committee educate attorneys, judges and members of the public about the law as it relates to racial and ethnic minority groups. The committee also furthers the professional development and inclusion of minority attorneys, law students and clients by providing resources to support their professional needs.
In her new roles, Maryam will be responsible for:
- Assisting with CLE programs
- Participating in subcommittees where applicable
- Contributing to the groups’ newsletters
- Attending regular meetings
Maryam represents professionals, companies, and their insurers in commercial and labor and employment litigation in both state and federal courts. She participates in all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings, preparing discovery, conducting and defending depositions, and preparing motions and briefs. In addition to appearing in court, Maryam regularly represents clients at arbitrations and mediations and obtains successful results.
With respect to employment litigation, she effectively litigates and mediates employment discrimination, retaliation, harassment, whistleblower and other matters on behalf of the firm’s clients.
Maryam also regularly counsels employers on general compliance matters arising under various federal, state and local laws, including with respect to employment policies and internal investigations.
