Aronberg Goldgehn Ranked No. 1 for Having the Highest Percentage of Women Associates Among Illinois' Largest Firms
Chicago Lawyer magazine’ has published the results of its annual diversity survey of the largest law firms in Illinois, and Aronberg Goldgehn has been ranked No. 1 in one analysis of the statistics. With 80 percent of the firm’s associate ranks being female, Aronberg Goldgehn tops the chart for having the highest percentage of associates who are women. The firm’s status is illustrated in a chart appearing on page 25 of the magazine’s July 2015 issue.
By way of comparison, the 10th ranked firm’s women associate population represents 64.7 of its total associates; No. 9, 65.6 percent and No 8, 66.7 percent.
Aronberg Goldgehn’s percentage of women associates is even more impressive when compared to the survey’s overall numbers. Of the largest law firms that reported statistics to the Chicago Lawyer on the composition of their lawyers, women made up only 45.3 percent of all associates, which is nearly 35 percentage points below Aronberg Goldgehn’s 80 percent.
“While we have never intentionally sought to have such a high percentage of women associates, it is a statistic that our firm can be proud of,” said Elizabeth Lazzara, a member of the firm. “Our firm is committed to and supports our women attorneys in pursuing work-life balance in their careers, which probably makes us an attractive firm for young women lawyers who seek that balance. We have hired many talented attorneys away from the larger, hours-driven firms for that very reason.”
