Staci Balbirer recently published an article in the Illinois State Bar Association’s Section on Family Law newsletter concerning the Hague Convention and matters attorneys should contemplate prior to moving forward in a Hague Convention case.

In her article, “What to Know Before You Take a Hague Convention Case,” Staci outlines important factors of the Hague Convention to ensure attorneys’ preparedness in such matters. She emphasizes 10 questions attorneys should ask themselves before taking a Hague Convention case, including, but not limited to:

  • What is the Hague Convention and how does it relate to family law?
  • Is the country from which the child was wrongfully removed a signatory to the Hague Convention?
  • Was the child in question wrongfully removed?
