John C. Sciaccotta to Moderate CBA Matters that Matter Leadership Speaker Series Featuring Speaker Emanuel "Chris" Welch

The Chicago Bar Association’s Civics Committee will hold its Matters that Matter leadership speaker series, moderated by John C. Sciaccotta, on Friday, May 6 at 12 pm CT. The virtual event will feature a conversation with Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, Emanuel “Chris” Welch, concerning state priorities with respect to infrastructure funds.

John, CBA Board Treasurer and Chair of the CBA Civics Committee, will lead the event, entitled “Infrastructure Funds-Priorities for Illinois: A Conversation with Speaker Emanuel ‘Chris’ Welch.” As part of the CBA Civics Committee’s Matters that Matter initiative, the program is designed to highlight and evaluate key issues in the Chicagoland area.

“This series was created to provide a forum and an opportunity for leaders to have a meaningful discourse on the important issues of the day,” said John. “The allocation of these infrastructure funds is top of mind for many Chicagoans, and we are honored to host Speaker Welch for this critical and timely discussion.”

Speaker Welch will share insight on topics, including:

  • The appropriation of infrastructure funds
  • Infrastructure funds’ effects on education, healthcare and access to justice
  • The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal
