Aronberg Goldgehn’s Karen R. Mills hosted two sessions of the National Business Institute’s online seminar, “Trusts From A-Z: Understand All the Wealth Planning Options Available to Your Clients,” to guide participants through common trust structure issues and legal ethics on Tuesday, February 15.

Karen’s first session, “Other Trust Structures and Issues,” outlined key trust topics including, but not limited to:

• Minor’s trusts
• IRA trusts
• Pet trusts
• Medicaid trusts
• Asset protection trusts
• Gun trusts
• Constructive trusts
• Charitable trusts

Following, Karen presented “Legal Ethics” in which she coached participants in the following areas:

• Who is your client? The most important question in trusts practice
• Top legal malpractice risks
• Testator capacity issues
• Dealing with trust beneficiaries
• Protecting confidentiality
• Preventing fiduciary misconduct

Karen concentrates her practice on estate planning, trust and estate administration, probate litigation, special needs planning, asset protection and guardianships for minors and adults with disabilities. Her practice also involves advising clients with respect to taxation, business and asset protection and long-term care planning.
