As the pandemic endures, COVID-related disputes between co-parents continue as well. Staci Balbirer recently discussed the growing rate of co-parent disagreements as they relate to the pandemic in a recent Chicago Lawyer article.

In the article, “Family Matters,” Staci identified co-parents’ primary concerns and causes for disputes with respect to vaccine administration and unnecessary exposure potentially impacting their children.

Staci further highlighted disagreements concerning a parent’s work environment and responsibilities. Reflecting on legislation throughout the pandemic, she asserted families have struggled with changes to parenting agreements or lack thereof.

“Illinois responded very clearly that despite one parent being exposed to COVID based on their line of work, parenting agreements must stand,” Staci said. “That was a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people who were co-parenting with partners who had jobs that put them on the front lines where there was greater exposure.”

Chicago Lawyer published this article in its December edition and online. Read the full article here.

As a dedicated divorce and family law attorney, Staci represents clients in issues related to complex financial matters, the allocation of parental responsibilities, child support, maintenance, property division, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, orders of protection and international custody disputes.
