Alan S. Wernick recently discussed the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recommendations to mitigate cyber threats during the holiday season in the American Bar Association’s Business Law Today.

In the article, “CISA/FBI Release Reminder for Critical Infrastructure (and Other Businesses) to Stay Vigilant Against Threats During Holidays and Weekends,” Alan emphasized the awareness of potential cyber threats and proactive actions such as:

  • Identifying an IT security employee available on weekends and holidays in the event of a ransomware attack
  • Implementing multi-factor authentication
  • Mandating strong and unique passwords for each account
  • Ensuring remote desktop protocols remain secure and monitored
  • Reminding employees not to click on suspicious links

In addition, Alan highlighted the need for businesses to review and update their incident response and communication strategies to include an action plan for when a cybersecurity incident takes place.
