Michael S. Nelson concentrates his practice in commercial real estate matters.

He represents clients in acquisitions and dispositions of commercial real estate, including negotiating, drafting and reviewing purchase and sale agreements, lending documents and transfer instruments, commercial leasing matters, including drafting and reviewing commercial real estate leases, and construction matters. Mike also assists clients in resolving title insurance issues and negotiating, drafting and reviewing lending documents for institutional and non-institutional transactions such as contracts, promissory notes and security agreements.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Mike joined Aronberg Goldgehn as an associate in January 2017. Previously he was an associate for six years with the Law Offices of Joseph G. Howard, P.C., where he handled real estate and business transactions in addition to civil and family litigation.

While in law school Mike served as a Judicial Extern for the Hon. Samuel De-Yeghiayan of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. While in that role, he prepared draft opinions and decisions; researched a wide range of procedural and substantive issues; drafted research memoranda; edited opinions and decisions; drafted briefs on pending motions; and observed daily court call.

Also while in law school, Mike was a part-time Teaching Assistant in the instruction of Property Law for first-year law students.

What is one item on your bucket list? Traveling with my wife to Japan.
What would you be doing if you weren’t a lawyer? I would be struggling to survive either as a musician or a travel writer.
What is the best vacation you’ve ever been on? My wife and I spent two weeks backpacking across Italy, Austria and Germany, including visiting Cinque Terre, Venice, Salzburg, Trier and Cologne.
