Daniel Berkowitz focuses his practice on representing insurers in complex insurance coverage litigation arising under general liability, director and officer, and professional liability policies. He also handles matters involving claims of bad faith and provides strategic counseling to clients regarding potential liability and strategies for handling underlying liability matters.

Dan appears regularly in state and federal court, representing clients in all matters of litigation, including pre-suit counseling and advice, motion practice, discovery and mediation.


Dan joined Aronberg Goldgehn as an associate in October 2016. He previously was an associate with a boutique litigation firm in Chicago where he handled more than a dozen subrogation cases at a time, recovering a total of $1.2 million in 2015 for one client in property subrogation matters.

While a student at the Michigan State University College of Law, Dan worked as a judicial intern for Hon. Patrick M. Meter of the Michigan Court of Appeals and as an intern with the Ottawa and Ingham County (Michigan) Prosecutor's Offices. In those positions, he gained valuable experience in appellate research and writing as well as trial skills, including conducting three jury trials from jury selection to final verdict.

Dan also completed an intensive, two-year litigation focused certification program, the Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Institute, earning a certification in Trial Practice upon graduation. He received the Jurisprudence Award for highest grade in class for the Pre-Trial II and Criminal Trial courses in the program. Dan was also a member of the Moot Court & Trial Advocacy Board, the Jewish Legal Society and Student Ambassadors.


Dan has recently presented "Illinois Workers Compensation Update: Exclusivity Under Attack," at a private client seminar, Oct. 15, 2019.
