Seven Aronberg Goldgehn Attorneys Named Emerging Lawyers By Illinois Leading Lawyers

Staci Balbirer, Amy M. Gibson, Benjamin Haskin, David A. Johnson, Jr., Amber O. LaFevers, Lindsay P. Lollio and Timothy R. Nelson have been named Emerging Lawyers for 2019 by Illinois Leading Lawyers. Emerging Lawyers have been identified by their peers to be among the top lawyers who are age 40 or younger (unless they have practiced for no more than 10 years). Less than 2% of all lawyers licensed in Illinois have received the distinction of Emerging Lawyer.

Staci Balbirer was named an Emerging Lawyer in Family Law. She concentrates her practice in the area of divorce and family law that encompasses issues related to the allocation of parental responsibility, child support, maintenance, property division, complex financial matters, pre and post nuptial agreements and orders of protection. Staci’s practice also has an emphasis on assisting families with special needs children.

Amy M. Gibson was named an Emerging Lawyer in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Management Side Employment Law. A Co-Chair of Aronberg Goldgehn’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group, Amy focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, including claims involving shareholder disputes, fraud, consumer fraud, breach of contract, and real estate. She also defends local and national employers in litigation and administrative proceedings involving claims by employees for discrimination, retaliation, violation of state and federal wage and hour laws, and worker misclassification.

Benjamin Haskin was named an Emerging Lawyer in Commercial Litigation. He represents an expansive range of businesses in complex commercial litigation. He has litigated breach of contract claims, enforcement of restrictive covenants, shareholder derivative suits, and labor and employment cases. He also represents commercial lenders in Uniform Commercial Code and bankruptcy matters.

David A. Johnson, Jr., was named an Emerging Lawyer in the areas of Closely & Privately Held Business Law and Computer & Technology Law. He is a general business attorney who represents growing companies and medical practices throughout Illinois and Wisconsin in all stages of operation, including in unique and complex transactions. He advises clients from formation to financing, to growth acquisitions and, in some instances, to the final sale of the company. He also provides counsel on employment matters and represents clients in the negotiation of employment agreements, employment handbooks, compliance with collective bargaining agreements and employment termination.

Amber O. LaFevers was named an Emerging Lawyer in the areas of Insurance Coverage Law and Commercial Litigation. She represents insurers in complex insurance coverage litigation arising under professional liability, general liability, errors and omissions, director and officer, and financial services policies. She also handles matters involving claims of bad faith and provides strategic counseling to clients regarding potential liability and strategies for handling underlying liability matters. In addition, Amber has represented corporate clients in commercial disputes and corporate governance matters.

Lindsay P. Lollio was named an Emerging Lawyer in the areas of Insurance Coverage Law and Commercial Litigation. A litigator, she represents a broad range of clients in the areas of civil liability defense, commercial and insurance-related matters. She has defended clients in complex matters involving alleged negligence, medical malpractice, intentional tort liability, premises liability, products liability, construction liability, professional liability and general liability. In her commercial litigation practice, she represents businesses in matters arising from complex contract disputes, employment disputes and ERISA. She also regularly consults with healthcare clients and business associates regarding HIPAA compliance. As coverage counsel, Lindsay regularly analyzes and litigates complex coverage matters on behalf of insurance carriers, including those arising from professional liability, construction and personal injury litigation.

Timothy R. Nelson was named an Emerging Lawyer in Closely & Privately Held Business Law. A Co-Chair of the Business Law & Transactions Group at Aronberg Goldgehn, Tim represents clients in a broad range of matters and transactions, often serving as outside general counsel for middle market and privately held businesses. He represents clients in connection with mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; business formation, start-up and governance matters; corporate structure and business planning matters; private debt and equity offerings; shareholder disputes; commercial finance transactions; as well as real estate, leasing and licensing transactions. Tim also assists clients with a range of technology and intellectual property matters.
