Julie A. Johnson Moderating a Discussion With Filmmaker Sharon Rowan Following the Screening of Her Documentary Film, “Balancing the Scales”
Aronberg Goldgehn family law attorney Julie A. Johnson will moderate a discussion with lawyer and filmmaker Sharon Rowan following the private screening of her documentary feature film, “Balancing the Scales.”
Rowan’s documentary is about the historical challenges and contributions of women in the profession of law. It features interviews with United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, civil rights attorney Gloria Allred, and other notable lawyers.
Hosted by the ISBA Standing Committee on Women & the Law and The Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, this screening and lunch will be held in Chicago on May 11, 2017, in honor of Mother’s Day and in celebration of women attorneys everywhere.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Loyola University of Chicago College of Law – Philip H. Corboy Law Center’s Power Rogers and Smith Ceremonial Courtroom, 25 E. Pearson – 10th Floor.

Julie Johnson dedicates her practice to matrimonial and family law, including divorce, child custody, domestic violence/orders of protection, child support, post-judgment litigation, adoption, parentage and all other related matters. She is engaged in all aspects of the practice, from preparing prenuptial agreements to engaging in settlement negotiations and handling trials and appeals.
Highly active in the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), Julie is the 2016-17 Chair of the ISBA Standing Committee on Women and the Law along with serving on the Diversity Leadership Council and Family Law Section Council.
On May 24, 2017, Julie will be presented with the Chicago Bar Association’s Alta May Hulett Award. Named for the first woman lawyer in Illinois, this award is presented annually by the Chicago Bar Association’s Alliance for Women. It honors one outstanding woman lawyer who has significantly contributed to the advancement of women in the legal profession or other areas, and whose career exemplifies the highest level of professional achievement, ethics and excellence.
In addition, Julie has been recognized as an Emerging Lawyer in Family Law by Illinois Leading Lawyers and a Rising Star in Family Law by Illinois Super Lawyers. As a law student, she received the ISBA’s Presidential Commendation Award in 2006 and was honored by the Illinois Women’s Bar Foundation with its Public Interest Scholarship for 2006-07. Upon law school graduation, Julie received the National Association of Women Lawyers Outstanding Woman Law Graduate Award.
