Timothy R. Nelson is Co-Chair of the Business Law & Transactions Group at Aronberg Goldgehn. He represents clients in a broad range of matters and transactions.
Tim often serves as outside general counsel for middle market and privately held businesses in a variety of industries, including the technology, creative, advertising, service, private equity, retail, real estate, aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, hospitality, consulting, construction, engineering, education, and entertainment industries. In serving as a trusted advisor for his clients, Tim provides counsel on a broad range of legal, business and strategic matters.
As a business counselor with broad transactional experience, Tim frequently represents clients in connection with mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; business formation, start-up and governance matters; corporate structure and business planning matters; private debt and equity offerings; shareholder disputes; commercial finance transactions; as well as real estate, leasing and licensing transactions.
Tim counsels clients, both large and small, in a range of employment matters, including human resource issues, employee handbooks and policies, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, employee classifications, wage and hour laws, and various other compliance matters relating to the FMLA, ADA, WARN Act and other laws.
Tim also assists clients with a range of technology and intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright matters, Internet and software matters, as well as related concerns such as trade secret protections and related company policies.
Tim regularly negotiates and drafts business governance documentation; purchase and sale documentation for transactions large and small; confidentiality agreements, employment policies and agreements, strategic and consulting agreements; licensing documentation, loan documentation, real estate and leasing agreements; customer contracts, and a variety of other documents used in and out of the ordinary course of business.

Tim joined Aronberg Goldgehn as an associate in November 2010 and was elected a Member in January 2015.
From 2012-2017, he has been recognized annually as a Rising Star in the area of Corporate and Business Law by Illinois Super Lawyers, and from 2015-2017, he has been named an Emerging Lawyer in Closely & Privately Held Business Law by Illinois Leading Lawyers.
Tim is an Adjunct Faculty Supervisor for The John Marshall Law School Business Enterprise Law Clinic.
